April 1, '08                                                                               An April Fool surprise !! (Ein Aprilscherz !) - Danke, Armin Gantzckow

This morning at around 9:00 our Dutch mare "Remolina" (Flemmingh x Zoogedacht) gave birth to a beautiful chestnut filly.  We had been watching the mare on our wireless barn cam at about 90 minute intervals every night for the past 10 days but so far she had not done anything but cause us to lose sleep.  Although the mare was at least a week overdue she showed none of the classic signs that she was about to give birth.  She gave us a real surprise this morning when we went to check her at about 10:00 a.m. and found a foal on her feet, at her side, and already  nursing!   Our vet pronounced both mother and foal healthy and well.

"Dorina" Chestnut Filly (Rousseau x Flemmingh)
